Who We Are
The Smiles
Foundation is a Christian Charity working in Romania with
disadvantaged Children, Families, Minority groups, the Homeless,
Disabled, Abused and the Elderly.
In 1990 - just months after the fall of Romanian dictator, Nicolae
Ceausescu, the Smiles Foundation's founders - Kevin Hoy and Nia Jones
visited State orphanages, Hospitals and Schools of several major
cities in Romania. Of the thousands of children seen, one common,
shocking observation is remembered - a total lack of Smiles.
21 years ago, we set about changing that and in 1997, established a
Charitable Work to oversee the essential activities of Love, Care,
Provision and Encouragement.
