SOUTH EAST OF ENGLAND DA's REPORT - JULY 2010 Annette Hoskins - Development Associate for Region 5 Things are going really well down here in sunny Sussex. We had our third Children’s Parade and Charity Fair in Worthing and once again this proved to be a huge success. Almost £500 was raised in support of the South East Container Fund. I am already looking forward to next years’ Event! Broadwater C of E School held their Summer Fete in June. They very kindly gave £50 of their profit to add to the Container Fund. My thanks go to the people of FAB for all of their hard work. The Brownie Pack that I help at also held a Summer Fete. They too kindly gave some of their profit to the Container Fund. The Container Challenge is taking shape with the container being ready in Cihei, for the 15 of us that are going out to Romania in August to prepare for a family to move into it...this will be a truly exciting time for us all and I want to thank everyone that has donated, to enable us to purchase the container and make a real difference to the lives of the family that will be moving into it in August. Everyone is busy collecting items to fill the van that is to be driven over to Cihei, to arrive whilst we are on our Trip. I am so amazed at the generosity of people. When I first started this Challenge I was unsure as to how everything would fall into place and whether I would receive enough items to fill a van? I began to wonder whether this was too big a Challenge for me. Well I should have known .... it may be a huge challenge for me but it certainly is not too big for God and with God’s blessing, things have run so smoothly. Nearly every day I have been coming home from work to find another parcel in my porch marked for “The Smiles Foundation”. The van is almost 2/3rds full now and with items still coming in, I am convinced that it will be full by the time it leaves at the beginning of August. With the Schools Tour coming up in just a week I am getting excited at the thought of seeing everyone from the Romanian Team again. It will be great to see the children and to welcome the newest members of the Choir to Worthing. I pray that they have a safe journey and have lots of fun whilst they are on their travels. If anyone in the South East is interested in hosting a Choir visit, please do get in touch with me and I will work with you to make all the arrangements.
