STAFF PROFILE ........

DanName: Dan Iancu
Place of Birth:
Oradea
Date of Birth/Age: 16.03.1980
Education: High School in Salonta, graduated 1998
Position in Smiles:
Romanian Website designer

A Brief Testimony:
I was born in Oradea but my home-town is Salonta. When I was younger I remember asking my parents to buy me a piano... not just a keyboard ... but a large piano so I could learn to play. My main reason at that time was that I have long fingers. Now, when I thinking about it, makes me laugh.

I didn’t go to a music school as expected, but when I was in the fifth grade I had the opportunity to attend the computer class. Since then I was passionate about two things: Computers and English. Later on, I had to choose beetween these two and I decided to improve my English and went to language class in high school. From the ninth grade I had the same English teacher as before, so this helped me a lot. After high school, I turned back to computers and studied boookeeping for two years. Now, working with computers makes me think that somehow my wish came true, I have a keyboard!Dan's Baptism

Family Details
I live with my mother and sister. My father died when I was 15. I also keep in touch with some cousins. It was 2008 when God made my family much larger by giving me many brothers and sisters in Christ.

Interests/Hobbies
Besides English and computers, I like talking to people and listening to their life experiences or problems.

Working with Smiles
I found the Smiles Romanian website in 2008 just by looking for a picture with a gypsy kid. I saw the website and made the decision to change it, so I called the office and told them about it. They agreed and since 2008 we are a team making smiles in Romania.

As it’s impossible to make a website without knowing the work of the others involved I started visiting Smiles projects and trust me you can not stand aside. So, at first it was Wheelchair tennis project and Tileagd Complex and now it is Gepiu Community  Centre where I am also involved.

Hopes/Dreams for the future
Another thing I like is seeing new places and taking pictures. That’s why one of my dreams is to take a picture of The Tower Bridge in London. I am sure I will not stop at only one!!
