Clean Water for Tileagd Gypsy Village
Three old wells for the a 300 strong community,
all cracked and allowing ground drainage to seep into the wells
infecting the water supply and causing severe sickness with all the
residents and especially 100+ children needing to be treated for
parasite worms in their stomachs.
This was the situation that inspired a Smiles donor to undertake the
project of improving drainage, Drilling a new well – deep enough to
not be affected by ground water drainage and able to be powerful
enough to provide ‘Stand Pipes’ around the village – allowing everyone
to have access to Clean, Safe Water.
