Whatever your gifts or interests, a Smiles Mission Trip will challenge you in service, sharing and sacrifice for others. Construction - Builders, Plumbers, Electricians, Plasterers, Joiners and Painters – Skilled and general hard workers always needed for converting houses into homes, constructing a school or a medical clinic – a residential care facility, emergency housing centre or children’s home. Medical - With over 1,300 people to care for, predominantly children – the Foundation’s 2 full-time doctors need help and support practically during visits, prayerfully for patients and with provision of urgent medical supplies to help meet the needs in Romania . Join Drs’ Ema and Claudia visiting families to help achieve healthier lives. Family Care - Fifteen tons of food is delivered each month to the Smiles Warehouse in Romania . From the warehouse, food packages are prepared for delivery to the families. Mission trips are a great support to the Romanian team as you assist with sorting, packing and delivery. The Smiles Foundation also undertakes re-decorating of family homes on an annual basis. Willing helpers on a Mission Trip makes achieving our commitment a greater possibility. Children’s Work – Summer School, Holiday Bible Club & VBS’s are arranged during most Mission Trips providing great opportunities to reach many children with the Gospel. A Mission Trip with The Smiles Foundation is an experience of a life-time and different to any other mission trip you will have been on. If you’ve never been on a Mission Trip then they come no better than with Smiles in Romania . Our trips are about a ‘Hands On’ experience. Using your gifts to impact the lives of others who are in need of help to stabilise and support family life. Much of the Foundation’s work in Romania is concerned with the support of nearly 200 families, living in the county of Bihor , North-West Romania , close to the Hungarian border. With an extensive committed staff on the ground in Romania supported by office staff from Britain and America , Smiles in Romania can provide an outstanding organisational structure for the Mission Trip experience. Selecting an area of work can be difficult with so many wonderful opportunities coming from every aspect of our projects. On a Smiles Mission Trip, you can select a different job every day, or stick to one the entire trip. Sorting and packing food, then visiting the families for distribution provides first hand insight to Romanian life. The Foundation is committed to providing Homes for families facing eviction or life on the streets. Our Construction programme is of fundamental importance and we need teams working on Houses - transforming them into Homes - for waiting parents and children. Every Mission Trip needs hard manual workers as well as skilled builders, plumbers, electricians, plasterers, joiners and so on. The Smiles Foundation is privileged to have its own Doctors on staff, serving the medical needs of our 200 families and often others in the area needing help. As a result, we are delighted to have many doctors, nurses and those with a medical interest, join the Mission Trips to enhance all we can do medically for the families. Whilst a strong aspect of all our Mission Trips is providing humanitarian help, we unquestionably use our provision of Homes, Food and Medicine as the basis for building a relationship of trust and deep friendship capable of providing a platform to share the important truths of the Gospel which is paramount to the Foundation’s operation. Many on Mission Trips will share the Gospel as they visit families day by day. Others are involved with more organised outreach specifically arranged during the summer trips. Concerts and music also play a major part in outreach activities.
